Hiking the Posina trail network: CAI trails on Pasubio

Around Posina, trails on Pasubio, historical landmarks and products from Val Posina come together. CAI Trail No. 366, the Strada delle 52 Gallerie del Pasubio, leads from Bocchetta di Campiglia to the Porte del Pasubio. Trail 377 leads from Contrà Lissa via Val Sorapache to the Porte del Pasubio as well.

Trail 480 leads from Fusine via Val del Rio to Pria Forà. Trail 499 leads from Contrà Balan over the Colletto di Posina to Monte Novegno. The European long-distance trail E5 also runs through the Posina trail network between the Porte del Pasubio and Monte Maggio via Passo della Borcola. The Strada delle 52 Gallerie del Pasubio offers a special combination of landscape and history. It consists of 52 galleries carved into the rock and can only be traversed on foot. The historic portal of the first gallery was built in 1917.

Church history: Santa Margherita on the Via dei Pastori

The Church of Santa Margherita d’Antiochia also anchors Posina in a long regional history. The original church probably dates from the 13th century. It stood along the Via dei Pastori, a transhumance route that led from Lessinia to the Asiago Plateau. The church’s most recent restoration took place in 2007.

The road into the Posina Valley already passes through the Stretta degli Stancari gorge. This gorge is formed by the mountains Priaforà and Cimone. The 1,500 m-high Monte Maio separates Posina’s main valley from the Zara Valley of the municipality of Laghi.
