Quasano is a destination for you if you would like to combine nature, activity and local characteristics. Forests shape the surroundings; there is also a hiking stage, trails in the Murgia di Quasano, regional Spiedi and cultural attractions in the wider surrounding area. This provides different points of reference for planning your trip.
Hiking between farmland and forest
Stage SI R08 of the Sentiero Italia CAI runs for 17.7 km from Quasano to Contrada Lama d’Ape. From Quasano, it heads northwest along the Ciclabile dell’Acquedotto Pugliese through farmland and forest. Its full accessibility on foot is not guaranteed, as the route is still being inspected by the local CAI sections. Another hiking route in the Murgia di Quasano leads to Jazzo della Sentinella. Quasano is surrounded by forests and is a suitable destination for hikes and walks.
Landscape and orientation on site
The access road to Albero della Bugia leads from the S.P. 72 Toritto–Quasano along Viale Fiorito for 300 metres to Largo Albero della Bugia. Monte Chiancaro, a mountain, and Murgia Ceraso, a hill, are also located in the surroundings of Quasano. These landscape destinations complement the trails and walking opportunities around the town.
Local flavors
Quasano is known for local Spiedi made with Cervellata. If you include regional cuisine in your trip, this specialty is one of the town’s specific culinary points of reference.
Culture and attractions in the wider surrounding area
The wider regional surroundings of Quasano include the Museo della Civiltà Rurale, the Museo Archeologico Statale di Altamura and the Museo Archeologico Nazionale Jatta. All three are museums. The Belvedere Sulla Gravina viewpoint is also located there. Castello della Matina, a ruin, is also situated in the surroundings of Quasano. Spiaggia Il Crocifisso is a beach in the wider regional surroundings. The range therefore extends from museums and historic remains to a viewpoint and a coastal destination.
A recurring event
The Feast of Madonna degli Angeli is celebrated in Quasano every year on the third Sunday in June. The event adds a recurring local occasion to the nature, hiking and cultural themes.
Accommodation to suit your travel plans
If you are looking for a hotel for your trip to Quasano, you can base your choice on your priorities: The stage and hiking route suit a plan focused on activity, while the forests and landscape destinations are suited to walks and an interest in nature, and the Spiedi provide a culinary connection to the town. Anyone who also wants to include museums, the ruin, the viewpoint or the beach should consider Quasano in the context of the wider regional surroundings.
