Highland plateau with far-reaching views

Caraffa di Catanzaro lies at the narrowest point of the Catanzaro Isthmus between the Gulf of Squillace and the Gulf of Sant’Eufemia. The town is situated on a highland plateau from which you can see the Ionian and Tyrrhenian Seas. Caraffa di Catanzaro is considered one of the earliest Albanian settlements in Italy. The Istituto della Cultura Arbëreshe “Giuseppe Gangale” is Caraffa di Catanzaro’s most important museum and documents the local Italo-Albanian culture. It presents art objects, traditional handicrafts, historical documents and multimedia materials on the religious traditions, traditional dress, music, dance and handicrafts of the Arbëreshe community. To help visitors find their way around, the institute has designated opening days and access ramps for overcoming architectural barriers.

Squares, remembrance and cycling

The Monumento ai Caduti is located between Piazza Skanderbeg and Piazza Maggiore Comi. It consists of cast bronze and an engraved marble plaque. The monument commemorates the fallen of the region and contributes to preserving historical memory and remembering the soldiers’ sacrifice for the local community.
