History in the village landscape
The ruins of the ancient Torre San Nicola can still be seen among the undergrowth in Agnone. The village is also home to the old Madonna del Carmine church. The first records of Agnone Cilento date back to 1187; at that time, there was a church nearby called Santa Maria de Hercula or S.M. ad Herchia.
