Conca dei Marini lies halfway up the hillside, bordered to the north by the mountains of Agerola and to the south by the sea. The hillside location, coastline and a strong local character therefore shape the town. The landscape includes terraces used for growing grapes, while the vegetation transitions from Mediterranean scrubland to forest.

Marina di Conca and the coastline
The coastal landscape includes Marina di Conca, a fishing village by the sea on the Amalfi Coast between Praiano and Amalfi. It can be reached either by a small boat from the sea or via the SS163 by climbing around 240 steps. There is a pebble beach on the rocky coastal slope. Set into the rocks of Marina di Conca is also a small, old chapel dedicated to the Madonna della Neve.
Towers, churches and local history
The Torre del Capo di Conca was built on the orders of Charles V as a coastal tower for the viceroyalty. The tower is visible from the road and is therefore a distinctive feature of the coastal landscape. The religious buildings of Conca dei Marini also provide the town with different historical reference points: the Chiesa San Michele Arcangelo has a single-nave floor plan, while the Chiesa San Pancrazio is surrounded by a centuries-old olive grove.
The ancient site on which the Chiesa di Santa Maria di Grado stands has been documented since 1370. The Convento di Santa Rosa was founded in 1681. The Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista is also known as the Chiesa di Sant’Antonio da Padova; Saint Anthony of Padua has officially been the patron saint of Conca dei Marini since 1694.
Sfogliatella Santa Rosa and the Janare
The Sfogliatella Santa Rosa is also part of the local identity. This speciality was invented in the 17th century in the monastery of the same name in Conca dei Marini. A festival in honour of the Sfogliatella Santa Rosa continues to be held annually in Conca dei Marini. Those who take regional cuisine into account alongside the landscape and architectural heritage will therefore encounter a subject here that is closely connected with the town.
The local legends of Conca dei Marini also include the Janare, magical women associated with the world of the sea. These stories take up the town’s maritime character without replacing the specific coastal landscape or its buildings.
Nature experiences and orientation
The Grotta dello Smeraldo is partly flooded, around 30 metres deep and contains stalactites, stalagmites and limestone columns up to ten metres high. The Sentiero delle cinque essenze is additionally associated with a particularly panoramic walk in Conca dei Marini. Both subjects draw attention to different forms of landscape: the partially flooded cave as well as the route’s connection with the surrounding area.
Getting to Conca dei Marini
By car, the route can be taken via the Vietri sul Mare exit on the A3 and then the S.S. 163, or via the Castellammare exit and then the S.S. 366. Conca dei Marini can also be reached by public bus services. When choosing your hotel, you can therefore include your preferred road connection or travel by bus in your personal travel planning.
