Historic Centre and Views
The Palazzo Baronale is one of the defining buildings in the town centre. The Di Stefano family commissioned its construction in the 15th century. The Church of San Demetrio Martire was originally built by Greek-Oriental monks and rebuilt in the 14th century. In front of the church, a large panoramic terrace offers views of the nearby district of Sicilì, the settlements at the foot of Monte Bulgheria and Monte San Michele. Near the Antica Ferriera in Valle della Corte, the ruins of a medieval humpback bridge have also been preserved. The Ferriera itself was built around the middle of the 19th century and was used for processing and transforming iron.
