Novafeltria between Mining History and Theatre Culture
Novafeltria reveals its character particularly where industrial history, architecture and local festivals come together. A prominent cultural landmark is the Teatro Sociale di Novafeltria: it was inaugurated in 1925 with Puccini’s opera La Bohème. The building is designed in the Liberty style; its construction was made possible through contributions from 72 local families. This creates a townscape in which theatre history and local participation are intertwined.

Industrial Archaeology and Weaving
The mining history can be experienced through two different examples in Perticara. The Museo Minerario di Perticara documents sulphur extraction at the Perticara mine. The Sulphur – Museo Storico Minerario di Perticara opened in 1970 and is considered one of the first significant examples of industrial archaeology in Italy.
The Weaving Museum in Palazzo Cappelli presents a historical reconstruction of weaving, with looms from prehistoric and ancient periods. In the basement of Palazzo Cappelli, the museum also has three functioning square looms from the second millennium AD. The combination of reconstruction, historical periods and functioning looms makes the site particularly interesting for visitors who want to understand craftsmanship not only through buildings, but also through material technology.
Liberty, Romanesque Architecture and a Former Industrial Building
In the historic centre of Novafeltria stands Palazzo Segni, a Liberty-style building with a portico. Also marked by Romanesque influences are the Oratorio di Santa Marina, whose construction dates back to 1191, and the Pieve di San Pietro in Culto, which has Romanesque origins. The former Polverificio Bonifazi in Novafeltria is preserved by the municipality like a museum. The three examples range from Romanesque origins to the municipal preservation of a former industrial structure.
Activities in Perticara and a Distinctive Park Entrance
If you are planning to include exercise alongside culture, the Skypark adventure park in Perticara offers treetop courses with varying levels of difficulty. Perticara also has climbing opportunities on natural rock faces. Near the centre of Novafeltria, a large installation featuring red eyeglass lenses marks the entrance to Parco Ivan Graziani. The three motifs offer different focal points: active pursuits in Perticara and an eye-catching detail near the centre of Novafeltria. Festivals Throughout the Year and Views over the Marecchia Valley
The local food culture is particularly prominent at two recurring annual festivals. The Sagra del Cascione e delle Erbe Spontanee takes place on the first weekend of June in the historic centre of Novafeltria. The Sagra della Vendemmia e dei frutti d'autunno follows each year on the second Sunday in October, also in the historic centre. The two dates offer different culinary highlights: cascione and wild herbs in June, and the grape harvest and autumn fruit in October. Sartiano offers a viewpoint overlooking the Marecchia Valley.
