The expansive KAMEN Museum is dedicated to the historical, cultural and geological heritage of the quarries and Aurisina stone. It addresses these subjects in relation to one another. The Cava Romana di Aurisina provides a contrasting landscape: it is a geosite protected by the region within the Carso-Kras Regional Geopark.

Karst Landscape and Paths with Their Own Character
The 6 km circular trail Percorso didattico di Aurisina starts and ends at the Scuola media Igo Gruden in Aurisina. The Belvedere Dougan offers views of the coast and the port of Aurisina, the mussel-farming facilities and the entire Gulf of Trieste. Coastal and Karst landscapes come together here within a single field of vision, without the town being reduced to one particular type of landscape.
Lisček is notable for its microclimate, vegetation and natural livestock watering place. At the same time, Lisček is the largest karst doline in the surrounding area. Both features give the landscape a distinct geological and ecological character. Anyone travelling through the Karst who wishes to pay attention not only to viewpoints but also to landforms and vegetation will find a particularly tangible point of reference here.
History, Remembrance and Local Culture
The Vedetta Liburnia is located in a former piezometric tower. This tower was built during the construction of the Southern Railway to supply the locomotives with water. Its history therefore points to the technical infrastructure of an earlier phase of railway development.
Traditional boats known as Zoppoli or Čupe were hollowed out from a single tree trunk. The Aurisina educational trail passes an Austro-Hungarian cemetery for those who fell in the First World War. A narrow path also leads to the monument to the poet Igo Gruden (1893–1948). These individual testimonies represent different historical layers: maritime craft tradition, war remembrance and literary commemoration.
Every year, the Circolo culturale sloveno Igo Gruden APS organises the San Rocco parish festival together with local associations and the parish community. In addition, the association regularly organises exhibitions by local artists as well as concerts, literary evenings and poetry evenings. This gives you a view of a local cultural landscape in which community life and artistic events are visible side by side.
