Stregna combines a rural landscape, paths through several districts and notable traces of regional history. The village lies within a settlement system made up of three villages along a route that connects the valley with the higher mountain ridges. The terrain, paths, settlements, fields, meadows and vegetation together form the landscape value of the area. The spatial structure is evident both in the paths between the districts and in the cultivated and vegetated areas.

Hiking Trails through Stregna and Tribil
An important reference point for hikers is Stage K-C3 of the Walk of Peace. It begins in Tribil Superiore and runs partly together with the Alpe Adria Trail and partly together with the Sentiero Italia, without this implying a single unified route or a specific access point.
The I Prati di Tribil-Stregna route passes through the districts of Stregna and through Tribil Inferiore. Kamenica is also located along this route, a carved stone commemorating the Arengo of Slavia. The memory of the Arengo of Slavia is thus tied to a specific point along the route.
A Village with a Clearly Defined Spatial Character
Stregna’s character is not revealed solely through individual buildings. The rural village is shaped by the interplay of terrain, settlements and cultivated areas. Fields, meadows and vegetation are just as much a part of this picture as the paths that structure the settlement system. The paths are connected to both the settlement structure and the terrain.
History and Churches in Stregna
The history of Stregna can be traced back to 1242. In that year, the place is associated with the designation “in villa di Striena.” In 1275, Stregna belonged to the fiefs of Enrico Birbiz from Cividale. The spelling “in villa di Striena” thus appears alongside the current form, Stregna.
The religious buildings include the Church of San Giovanni in Tribil Inferiore. It is one of the small Slovenian-Gothic votive churches in the area. The parish church of San Paolo, dating from the 15th century, stands at the highest point.
These religious sites are situated within a settlement area extending across several districts of Stregna.
Burnjak in October
The course of the year is also connected with the local culture. In Stregna, Burnjak, a large chestnut festival, is celebrated in October. Burnjak is based in Tribil Superiore, Stregna. A trip in October can include Burnjak as a cultural occasion. Tribil Superiore is therefore connected both with Stage K-C3 and with Burnjak.
