Historic buildings, museums and cultural sites in Saluzzo

In Saluzzo, Casa Cavassa is now the Museo Civico di Saluzzo. The Torre Civica was built in 1462 as part of Saluzzo’s former town hall. The Cattedrale di Maria Assunta was built between 1491 and 1501 and became the seat of the bishop in 1511. The Cappella del SS. Sacramento in the Cattedrale di Maria Assunta contains a 16th-century polyptych by Hans Clemer.

In Saluzzo, Casa Pellico is a medieval building on the Piazzetta dei Mondagli, immediately outside the 1280 city walls. The margraves used Villa Belvedere as a hunting lodge in the final years of the 15th century and the early years of the 16th century. La Castiglia houses the Museo della Civiltà Cavalleresca and the Museo della Memoria Carceraria. Casa Pellico is made available to the public as a venue for cultural activities.

From the Loggetta of the Torre Civica, after climbing 130 steps, the view extends from the historic centre to the nearby Alps and across the plain. The climb is a clearly defined physical section when structuring a visit to the city of Saluzzo.

The underground rooms and the garden can be visited during opening hours. The Loggetta and the garden of Castello di Castellar offer views of different landscapes: from the Alps and the plain to the hills of the Valle Bronda.

The Anello Saluzzo–Castellar runs along country roads and short sections of cycle paths. For cyclists, this change in route types is a specific factor when planning a day in the surroundings of Casa Fornace. In the immediate surroundings of Casa Fornace, the return leg of the Da Castello a Castello (Saluzzo–Manta) route runs entirely along a cycle and pedestrian path.
