If you want to experience a place not just by looking at it, but by taking it in as you walk, the Sentiero Storia provides a clear framework: it is a 6.9-kilometre circular route. At a leisurely tourist pace, it takes a little over two hours on foot. The trail passes through Igliano's built-up area. This connects the hike with a direct experience of the town. The Sentiero Cusina is the longest hiking trail maintained by the Associazione Deserta Langarum. Together, the two trails offer different ways to incorporate Igliano into your own travel rhythm.

By the Cusina Stream and in the Landscape

The Sentiero Cusina follows the valley of the Cusina stream and descends as far as the streambed. At an easily manageable ford, it crosses the Cusina stream. For those interested in nature, the appeal lies in the connection between the route and the changing features of the landscape. Fontana Funtanas is a natural, water-bearing marl grotto that also contains fresh water in summer. An example of Quercus crenata stands along the Sentiero Cusina. This specimen retains its green leaves in winter and is considered a cross between an oak and a cork oak. The trail passes marl formations typical of the Alta Langa as well as distinctive calanchi. Igliano therefore offers opportunities for observing nature that focus specifically on the stream, grotto, tree and terrain.

Churches, Chapels and Historic Traces

Individual buildings also shape the exploration of Igliano. The parish church, Chiesa parrocchiale di S. Andrea, dates from the 17th century. The Cappella di S. Sebastiano e S. Rocco dates from the 16th century and contains frescoes of Saints Sebastian and Roch. The Chiesa di S. Ludovico also dates from the 16th century. Outside the town, you can reach the Cappella di San Sebastiano o San Rocco along the SP 352. Another historic trace lies by the Cusina stream: the origins of the Antico Ponte are attributed to Roman times. At kilometre 8 on the Sentiero Cusina, a detour leads to the ruins of the Vecchio Mulino di Igliano. This allows natural trails and local history to be combined in a single stay, without one particular theme having to define the visit.
