Priocca between local history and landscape

Priocca is a destination for travelers who want to combine local history and landscape in a manageable travel itinerary. Historic religious buildings, a structure referred to as a „castello“, green spaces, and destinations in the wider area offer a range of focal points. You can plan your stay around culture, walking, or regional excursions while getting to know the distinctive features of the town.

Local history between church and Castello

Priocca’s cultural history includes the Chiesa Parrocchiale di Santo Stefano. It was formerly the chapel of the castle and was rebuilt between 1905 and 1908 in Lombard-Gothic forms. East of the parish church stands the Viale building, which is now referred to as a „castello“. The Pieve di San Vittore in Priocca is considered Proto-Romanesque and dates from the first half of the 11th century. The Chiesa di San Silverio is mentioned in a document from 1242 under the name „de Curmurio“. The Cimitero di Guerra is associated with 115 fallen soldiers from the two World Wars.

Fontana Lesca and the Sentiero dei Castelli

Another side of the town can be seen in the Regione Roagna. This is where Fontana Lesca is located, belonging to one of Priocca’s oldest districts and forming a green corner of the town. The site has a picnic area with tables and benches. This area can be reached via a footbridge crossing a small stream. The Sentiero dei Castelli is a scenic ridge trail that runs through Priocca and its secluded, cultivated landscape. This allows historical themes and landscape experiences to be considered side by side when planning your trip.

Cultural destinations in the surrounding area

Several destinations with a clear cultural focus can also be found around Priocca. The Castello di RorĂ  is located there as a castle. Artecontemporanea di G.Dalpozzo & D.Coffa and the Museo Federico Eusebio are museums in the surrounding area. The Palazzo Comunale Alba, designated as a palace, is another destination. These different categories make it possible to tailor your stay according to your interests in architectural history, contemporary art, or museum visits, without reducing Priocca itself to just one theme.

Green destinations in the wider regional area

The wider regional area around Priocca includes Parco Biberach Ander Riss, Parco Rio Crosio, and Parco Monte Rainero, each designated as a park. The Area Verde Giovanni Falcone Paolo Borsellino is also located there and is designated as a garden. Alongside places of history and culture, this gives your planning another regional focus featuring designated parks and gardens.

Sightseeing and choosing a location

When choosing a hotel in Priocca, you can base your choice of location on your personal focus: the historic sites, the landscape within the town, or the cultural and green destinations in the surrounding region.
