Mango between Castello, Trails and Moscato

Mango combines history, trails and wine into a diverse destination. Castello di Mango, the lanes of the historic center, the Fenoglio circular route and Gnomovia represent different ways of experiencing the town and its surroundings. These are complemented by Moscato tastings and a regional network of museums, parks and landscape sites. Depending on your interests, the focus can be on history, walking, family activities, museums, green spaces or wine; these themes are rooted in different ways in Mango and its wider regional surroundings.

Castello and historic town center

Castello di Mango was built at the end of the 13th century on the ruins of fortifications destroyed earlier, as a military stronghold, and had secret passageways, prisons and underground rooms. For centuries, the complex was the summer residence of the Marchesi di Busca. Porta Avene is the only surviving gate of the old entrance to Mango. In the historic center, the lanes with murals and hand-painted terracotta tiles form an open-air museum depicting former rural life, traditional crafts and local traditions.

Trails between the center and the surrounding area

The circular route in Mango dedicated to Fenoglio leads through the town center and surrounding area, connecting places, farmsteads and panoramas of the Langhe appreciated by Fenoglio. In the historic center, themed paths focused on time invite visitors to a contemplative and sensory experience. Gnomovia begins on Via Cossano Belbo in Mango, can be reached on foot from the town center and has parking available near the town hall. Gnomovia is considered a family-friendly outdoor tourism route for families with children.

Moscato and wine culture

The Enoteca Regionale Colline del Moscato d'Asti offers tastings of Moscato Bianco in dry, still, sweet and sparkling varieties. It also offers a gourmet picnic basket for collection at Castello di Mango, paired with its wines. Ca ed Curen is associated with a winery offering tastings, sales and tours. The culinary themes therefore range from different Moscato styles and collection at the Castello to the winery.

Culture and landscape in the wider surroundings

Casa Natale di Cesare Pavese is a museum in the wider regional surroundings of Mango. Casa VIGNA, a museum, is also located in this wider regional area. Palazzo Comunale Alba is a palace there, while Museo Federico Eusebio is a museum. These places expand the cultural framework around Mango with additional museum and architecture themes.

In the wider regional surroundings of Mango, Area Verde Giovanni Falcone Paolo Borsellino is a garden. Parco Biberach Ander Riss is a park there, Bric Cupazzolo is a hill and Parco Monte Rainero is a park. The thematic range thus extends from historic spaces and literary trails to green spaces and landscape sites.
