Baradili: Medieval Village Character, Water Park and Ravioli Tradition

Baradili combines the appearance of a medieval village with numerous old courtyard houses, an artistically distinctive piazza and a remarkable local festival tradition. If you are looking not only for landscapes but also for local history, regional cuisine and leisure activities, Baradili offers several different ways to experience a stay.

Church, Piazza and Evidence of the Nuragic Era

The Chiesa Santa Margherita dates from the 18th century and was completed in 1935. Inside, it houses wooden figures of several saints: Santa Restituta, San Pasquale, San Sebastiano, Santa Margherita “dei sette vestiti”, Sant’Emiliano, San Giuseppe col Bambino, San Francesco Saverio, the Madonna della Candelora with a crown and crowned Child, as well as Santa Margherita with a palm and dragon in the central altar niche. Particularly valuable is a Sant’Antonio da Padova with the Child standing on a book.

In front of the church lies Piazza Santa Margherita, the central square of Baradili. Sculptures by Pinuccio Sciola further shape this place, adding a modern artistic accent amid the historic village character. Sacred art, village architecture and public art thus come together here in a cohesive local setting.

The area’s older history is also part of Baradili’s character. Nuraxi Candeu is considered a single-tower nuraghe and is within sight of Su Nuraxi di Barumini. A Nuragic well is also located near Nuraxi Candeu; it was reconstructed in the following centuries after being hewn into the rock. Its water is still used today in the parish church of Santa Margherita.

Water, Exercise and Family Activities

Parco Acquatico Ilidarab has two swimming pools, one of them with water slides. The 850 m² leisure pool includes a beach area, a children’s pool with water features, a hydromassage area with water-fitness and aquagym activities, as well as a swimming area. The park also offers a solarium, shaded areas near the refreshment facilities, a picnic area, changing rooms, showers and a car park.

Baradili also provides further facilities for active days. Area Sport comprises a green space with a padel court and a small-sided football pitch. Parco Comunale Baradili combines a playground, a trekking trail, a tennis court, a small-sided football field, a refreshment station and a pizzeria. This allows cultural sightseeing and exercise to be combined, without tying the village to just one type of holiday.

Ravioli and Local Festival Culture

Baradili has its own culinary character thanks to the Sagra dei ravioli. It has been held every year since 1995, featuring cultural activities and the promotion of local products. At Baradili’s Sagra dei ravioli, handmade ravioli are served with fillings of ricotta and lemon, ricotta and spinach, and potato. The ravioli festival Sagra de is cruguxionis takes place on the Sunday between 13 and 20 July.
