Palmadula between the coast and the Nurra
Palmadula lies between the crystal-clear sea near Argentiera and the green hills of the Nurra. The surrounding area includes fields and pastures that bear witness to the Nurra’s agricultural production. Natural areas nearby offer opportunities for excursions and walks in nature. The changing landscape thus extends from the sea near Argentiera to the fields and pastures in the immediate vicinity of Palmadula.

The route to Porto Palmas
From Palmadula, visitors follow the signs to Argentiera for about 3 km along the SP18 and then turn onto the Sentiero Costiero Nurra. Before the mining village, the route continues for about 240 m to Porto Palmas beach and the car parks behind it. The first section of the connection lies on the SP18; the Sentiero Costiero Nurra then continues towards Porto Palmas. The approximately 240 m begin at the turn-off before the mining village and lead to the beach area with the car parks behind it. The route therefore begins with the section between Palmadula and Argentiera and only continues along the coastal path afterwards.
Beach and shoreline
Porto Palmas has a small, crescent-shaped beach of medium-coarse, light amber-coloured sand mixed with white pebbles. Near the shore, the seabed is shallow and sandy and is considered suitable for families. Beyond this shallow shoreline area, divers visit the rocky sections. Thus, light sand, white pebbles, shallow seabed and rocky sections are found alongside one another on the same beach. The transition from the shallow sandy seabed to the rocky sections lies beyond the nearby shore.
Punta Lu Pisanu and the distant view
At the edge of Palmadula, an unpaved path leads up to the summit of Punta Lu Pisanu. Punta Lu Pisanu is a rise just outside Palmadula. From there, the view extends from Argentiera to the cliffs of Stintino. Argentiera lies at one end of the field of vision and Stintino at the other; in between, the view opens out from the rise. The rise is just outside the town, while the path already begins at the edge of the town.
Coastal trek and hiking planning
A coastal trek leads from the Argentiera mining village northwards towards Spiaggia di Porto Palmas and then to Spiaggia della Frana. Its starting point is near the mining village, while the unpaved path to Punta Lu Pisanu begins at the edge of Palmadula. Porto Palmas lies along this coastal route before Spiaggia della Frana. For orientation in the terrain, there are therefore two different starting points: the Argentiera mining village for the coastal trek and the edge of Palmadula for the path to Punta Lu Pisanu. The two routes differ in their starting point and direction: northwards along the coast or uphill from the town to Punta Lu Pisanu.
