The archaeological park of the Appiu Nuraghe is also part of the cultural offering and can be visited as part of a guided tour. The church of San Leonardo, the town’s most significant monument, stands in the centre of Villanova Monteleone. The surrounding area also features the Mare Nostrum Aquarium, a museum, as well as Palazzo Guillot, Palazzo Machin and Palazzo D,albis.
The artisanal side can be experienced through the example of Sardinian carpet weaving. At the former Centro Pilota per la Tessitura di Villanova Monteleone on Via Nazionale, the ArTes association held courses and workshops teaching this type of weaving. The “fressada” carpet is made with wool from Sardinian sheep and a cotton warp using a polychrome weaving technique.
Horse riding, trekking and evenings with music
