A shorter, clearly defined option is the Rittersteig trail from Steinegg/Collepietra to Kardaun/Cardano. The moderately difficult hiking trail is 7.8 km long. The 7.8 km distance remains a concrete factor for planning your day. Along the way, it passes through coniferous and deciduous forests as well as vineyards, offering views of the Eisacktal/Valle Isarco and Karneid Castle/Castle of Karneid. From the Kardaun Brennerstraße/Cardano Via Brennero stop, hikers can take bus route 182 back to the starting point in Steinegg/Collepietra.

Wine in the Old Armory

The Pitzner winery offers a special combination of landscape, regional enjoyment and history. It is located above Kardaun/Cardano in the old armory of Karneid Castle/Castle of Karneid. The winery produces distinctive wines on five hectares of individually managed vineyards. By reservation, Pitzner offers guided winery tours with wine tastings.
