Obereggen: Mountain adventures between skiing, hiking and enjoyment
Obereggen for active days in the mountains
A holiday in Obereggen can be planned in many different ways: winter sports, hikes, panoramic trails and experiences that combine nature with playful or indulgent discoveries take centre stage. The Obereggen ski area comprises 18 lifts, providing a solid basis for days in the mountains. For tobogganing, Obereggen offers the two runs “Obereggen”, measuring 2.5 km, and “Absam”, measuring 750 m.
Snow, snow park and winter hiking
Obereggen’s snow park is located at an altitude of 2,032 m. Its facilities include kickers, jumps, boxes, rails, a jib line, a downhill area, a boardercross area and a banked slalom. This gives different forms of winter sports their own dedicated space, while the two toboggan runs, with their clearly different lengths, offer another way to enjoy a day in the mountains.
A more peaceful winter activity takes you to the Oberholz Alpine hut. The winter hike begins at Obereggen’s upper car park and takes around one and a half hours on foot.
Hiking with panoramic views and orientation
Fifteen hiking tours start in the centre of Obereggen. One of them is Latemar Panorama, a panoramic hike around Obereggen with views of the Dolomites, alpine meadows and mountain scenery. Latemar Panorama begins at the car park by the Obereggen valley station; the Oberholz chairlift can make the ascent to the starting point of the high-altitude hike easier. The different starting points and the stated length of the trails help you choose a daily rhythm that suits your own plans.
Interactive trails on Latemar
The Latemar Adventure trails can be reached from Obereggen by the “Obereggen-Ochsenweide” gondola lift or the “Obereggen-Oberholz” panoramic chairlift. Along the “Sulle orme del bracconiere” trail, you will find stations about the alpine habitat and interactive audio games; the trail is designed as a nature education path. The “Il segreto dell’ometto veneziano” trail combines viewpoints with interactive audio games and riddles revolving around a legend of Latemar.
Mountain biking, mindfulness and regional flavours
There is also a clearly measured route for mountain biking: the Latemar Ronda is 44.7 km long, with 507 m of ascent and 2,133 m of descent. When planning your day, both the distance and the separately listed elevation figures are relevant. Those who want to alternate between active and more peaceful experiences will find Mindful.Latemar along the circular trail on Mount Golfrion at an altitude of 1,872 metres. The offering there comprises 18 mindfulness exercises.
The Oberwerkstatt organic farm in Obereggen provides a culinary stop. At the demonstration dairy, you can gain insights into the production of goat’s cheese; a guided visit and tasting are also included. This allows you to experience the mountain landscape not only through trails and altitudes, but also through a regional craft that is directly connected with the area.
