Canazei amid the Dolomites, ski tours and culture
Accommodation in Canazei
Canazei is located in the Dolomites near the Marmolada, which reaches an altitude of 3,342 metres. The nearby surroundings of the village include Col Rodella mountain as well as the peaks of Sasso Becce, Sass de Moles and Monte Forca. This close proximity complements its location between high-altitude mountain regions and distinctive landscape features. Every year, Canazei hosts a round of the Skyrunning World Series, the Dolomites Skyrace.

Winter circuits and descents
The Belvedere–Col Rodella ski area can be reached from Canazei for skiing and snowboarding. The Sellaronda can also be accessed from Canazei via Col dei Rossi. With a Dolomiti Superski ski pass, the Sellaronda ski tour can be completed in approximately five to six hours. One specific descent is the 3-Tre ski slope: it runs for over 3,300 metres from Col Rodella to Pian de Frataces (Lupo Bianco). The approximate duration of five to six hours means that this ski tour requires one uninterrupted time block within the ski day. For the 3-Tre, the starting point and destination are fixed: Col Rodella and Pian de Frataces (Lupo Bianco).
Summer, views and activities
In summer, Canazei offers trekking in high-altitude mountain regions. From Alba di Canazei, a cable car runs to Ciampac, a natural viewpoint overlooking the Marmolada, the Sella and Pordoi. For cycling, the Fassa Bike District in the heart of the Dolomites offers a network of flow trails, enduro singletracks and downhill routes. In summer, the trekking and cycling activities are clearly distinct: high-altitude mountain regions on the one hand, and flow trails, enduro singletracks and downhill routes on the other. Canazei Fun Park has an approximately 50-metre-long tubing track and a 400-metre-long slalom kart track for grass karts. The park also offers Acqua Splash, bumper boats on the water in inflatable boats. The tubing track and the slalom kart track differ in length: approximately 50 metres compared with 400 metres.
Churches and Ladin culture
In Gries, Canazei, the Church of Madonna della Neve was built in 1570. It features a distinctive Baroque onion dome. The Church of the Sacred Heart, completed in 1942, is also located in Gries. Canazei's annual cultural calendar includes events such as “Te anter i tobié” and the “Gran Festa da d’Istà ”, as well as the Ladin carnival in the various districts. The two churches in Gries were built in different years: Madonna della Neve dates from 1570, while the Church of the Sacred Heart dates from 1942.
