Rovereto between Art, History and Nature

Rovereto combines an unusually diverse museum landscape with nature and cycling experiences.

The Planetario del Museo offers fulldome projections on Saturday afternoons in an immersive dome cinema.

Nature Trails and Cycling Network

The Bosco della Città includes the Percorso Natura, an educational trail with information panels about the area's flora, fauna and geology. The Percorso Ciclopedonale in the Bosco della Città is mostly flat and offers panoramic views over the Vallagarina and the Monti Lessini. The range therefore extends from observing nature to a peaceful route with expansive views of the landscape.

For orientation by bicycle, Rovereto has four main routes: the pista Longa, the pista del Leno, the pista della Roggia and the pista del Lavoro. There are also additional paths within the city districts. Dedicated signage and maps along the routes help cyclists find their way.

Castles, War History and Art

The Museo Storico Italiano della Guerra – MITAG is housed in the Castello di Rovereto. The permanent exhibition contains testimonies and historical finds from the First World War; the museum is considered one of Italy's most important museums dedicated to this war. The Torrione Marino of the Castello di Rovereto also displays a collection of modern-era weapons from the 16th to the 18th century.

The Mart in Rovereto presents major temporary exhibitions and has a collection of around 20,000 works spanning more than 150 years of art history. It includes major 20th-century art movements, including Futurism, Novecento, Metaphysical art, abstraction, Arte Povera and conceptual art.

The Casa d'Arte Futurista Depero displays paintings, tapestries, mosaics, drawings, design objects, collages, posters, event posters and furniture by Fortunato Depero. It is Italy's only Futurist museum and consequently provides a clear focus within Rovereto's cultural offering.

City History and Science

The Campana dei Caduti was cast from the bronze of cannons belonging to the nations involved in the First World War. It is the world's largest bell that rings with a full peal; every evening at sunset, it sounds one hundred times. The Museo della Città tells Rovereto's story from its prehistoric origins through the medieval municipality to the modern city, using municipal works of art, archaeological finds, photographs, archival documents and multimedia media.

The Museo di Scienze e Archeologia covers archaeology, zoology, botany, astronomy, earth sciences and robotics in permanent collections and temporary exhibitions. The botanical exhibition presents the flora of Trentino as well as the history and floristic richness of Monte Baldo. This allows nature, science and regional development to be viewed from different perspectives.

A Detail of Local Everyday Culture

The CoBo Museum of the Torrefazione Bontadi coffee house includes a collection of more than 300 tools for coffee production and processing, including some originals dating from 1790.
