Church and Historical Traces

The parish of Tregozzano is officially also registered under the name S. Michele Arcangelo. The church of Tregozzano is dedicated to San Michele Arcangelo and dates from the 17th century. For visitors interested in culture, this provides a clear thematic focus: the place name, the ecclesiastical designation and the age of the church point to a long-standing sacred character, without requiring a large town centre.

A particularly concrete historical connection exists with the Guillichini family. During the Second World War, the Guillichini Archive was moved to the country villa in Tregozzano for security reasons. The country villa was initially shelled, then occupied by German troops and subsequently used by British troops as a command post. Tregozzano therefore also appears as a place where the history of the region connects with the upheavals of the 20th century.

The family history also includes the Guillichini agricultural estate in Arezzo. Its centre was the Villa padronale di Tregozzano. The estate included numerous properties in the municipality of Arezzo, as well as some in Subbiano and Monte S. Savino. Those interested in rural structures of power and ownership encounter here a regional context that extends beyond the individual locality.

Chiassa, Chiusa and Nature Themes

At the Torrente Chiassa, the Chiusa created a natural basin that was once a social hub for the residents of the Tregozzano, Giovi and Chiassa districts. This former community meeting place draws attention to the importance of the watercourse in everyday life. Complementing this, the Parco Fluviale di Comunità del Chiassa project aims to protect biodiversity and the landscape, use the watercourse responsibly and promote environmental education.

Tregozzano also offers a specific point of reference for active pursuits: the outdoor fitness facility is located on Via Beneduci next to a small football pitch and a social community centre. It provides a place for calisthenics and includes an area for bodyweight exercises. This makes it possible to add physical activity to your stay without losing sight of the cultural and landscape character of the area.

Events and Planned Activities

The Festa di Primavera is an annual event in the Parco della Chiusa in the village of Tregozzano. During the 15th edition of Cavallincittà, Tregozzano was one of the stops on the programme of horseback rides. An environmental trekking event with plogging was also planned. It was supposed to start at the Chiusa di Tregozzano, reach Giovi Rimbocco and continue to Chiassa Superiore near the sports field.
