Castion Among Festivals, Art and Trails
Castion combines the Corsa dei Caret, the Sagra del Campanot and the Carnevale di Castion with religious art sites and the Anello di Modolo in the Modolo landscape. The venues range from the square in Castion and the outdoor area of the Sagra to the Pian delle Feste and onward into the Modolo landscape.
Festivals with Their Own Venues
The Corsa dei Caret, also known as the “Carrettata”, takes place every year in the square in Castion. The downhill race is held using imaginatively designed, non-motorized vehicles. The square in Castion is therefore directly associated with this distinctive form of racing.
The Sagra del Campanot in Castion has an outdoor area for concerts.
The Carnevale di Castion includes a parade of large allegorical floats and masks at the Pian delle Feste. The Pian delle Feste is therefore established as a dedicated venue within the festival description.
Art and Religious History
The Oratorio dei Battuti was first mentioned in 1368, rebuilt several times, and served as the baptistery of the parish of Castion from the 17th century onward. Its history therefore encompasses several construction phases and a religious use as a baptistery.

The Anello di Modolo
The Anello di Modolo is a circular trail through the Modolo landscape and starts at Villa Miari-Fulcis. It is 4 km long, has an elevation difference of 25 m, and is classified as easy. This provides a fixed starting point, a manageable trail length and a specific elevation difference for planning the day.
The Anello di Modolo is one of the accessible trails. However, because of the uneven surface, an all-terrain wheelchair with off-road wheels and a support wheel is recommended. The recommendation explicitly links the trail’s accessibility to the condition of the surface.
At the same time, the circular trail can be reached by city bus to the San Cipriano stop, followed by a 1.6 km walking route to Villa Miari-Fulcis. With this approach, the walk from the stop to the villa forms part of the described access to the circular trail.
