Ponte Nelle Alpi: Nature, Culture and Routes along the Piave

Ponte Nelle Alpi combines the landscape of the Destra Piave with impressive cultural sites and routes for a variety of interests. The selection ranges from the Piave floodplains to 14th-century frescoes and from an ancient road to long circular and long-distance routes.

Piave Landscapes and Mountains

The Destra Piave area includes the Piave floodplains, meadows and urban parks in the plain around Ponte Nelle Alpi. Above the settlement are former cultivated terraces; the forests and grazing meadows of Frusseda are also part of the landscape.

The ancient Roman road through the Destra Piave can be followed from Villa Montalban in the village of Safforze via a cycle and walking path in the direction of Nuova Erto. The path passes through Polpet and continues via Pian di Vedoia.

The 1oo km dell'Alpago route reaches the hamlets of Oltrerai in the municipality of Ponte Nelle Alpi after a long descent from a mountain refuge. From Soccher, it follows the right bank of the Cellina Canal, passes through Paiane and then reaches the Paludi area. Another option is the Chiesette-della-Val-Belluna route, which is over 110 kilometres long. Climbing at Falesia di Socchèr

Falesia di Socchèr offers just over twenty technically challenging climbing routes of moderate to high difficulty. Overhanging sections alternate with slabs and walls. Access continues on foot from a car park in front of the ruins of San Giorgio Castle.
