Pascoli combines sacred history with paths through the mountain landscape of the Valle del Mis. At its center is Chiesa di San Michele, which serves as the parish church of the village of Pascoli. At the same time, the basin of Lago del Mis reflects the area's landscape development and provides a second focus for planning your trip: nature, higher elevations and protected surroundings.

Chiesa di San Michele and ecclesiastical heritage

Today's Chiesa di San Michele was demolished and rebuilt in 1875. As one of the thirteen chapels along the themed route β€œLe Chiesette della Val Belluna,” it is also part of a broader cultural context. In the immediate vicinity of Pascoli are Palazzo dei Rettori, Palazzo del Capitano, Museo Civico Belluno and Chiesa di Loreto. This allows a stay in Pascoli to be combined with different forms of architecture, history and sacred culture, without reducing the village to a single attraction.

Hiking along old paths

The Cammino Sospirolese follows an old mule track to Chiesa di San Michele, the parish church of Pascoli. From the area around the church, four variants of the Cammino Sospirolese in the Valle del Mis can be accessed. For hiking enthusiasts, this connection provides clear orientation between the village, the historic route and the valley landscape. A CAI-Belluno hike announced for November 10, 2024, starting from Pascoli, passed at the foot of Talvena through forests and meadows. It led from Pascoli to Chiesetta di San Giorgio at approximately 1,300 meters above sea level.

Lago del Mis and the landscape of the Belluno Dolomites

The basin of Lago del Mis was created in 1962 following the construction of the dam of the same name near the settlement of Pascoli di Sospirolo (BL). Lago del Mis is located in Parco Nazionale delle Dolomiti Bellunesi. This brings together at the destination a lake shaped by the dam and a protected mountain landscape. This combination may be particularly interesting for you if you would like to combine cultural sightseeing with nature observation and walks.

Mountains in the surrounding area

The mountains Monte Peron, Monte Tesa, Monte Terne and Monte Pala are located in the immediate vicinity of Pascoli. Their names do not represent a uniform route or a guaranteed activity here, but rather the distinctive landscape surrounding the village. Together with the foot of Talvena, the forests and meadows of the announced hike, and Lago del Mis, they form a destination whose character can be understood through its different landscapes.

Pascoli as a base for planning your trip

If you are looking for a hotel for an individually planned trip to Italy, you can use your preferred daily itinerary as a benchmark for your choice. Chiesa di San Michele and the associated walking themes favor a focus on culture and hiking; Lago del Mis, the national park and the surrounding mountains add a landscape accent. Therefore, check whether the location of your accommodation suits the sights and excursions you prefer. Pascoli offers a combination of ecclesiastical heritage, old paths, lake and mountains that can be explored at different travel rhythms.
