The Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista offers a particularly precise historical timeframe. Its foundation stone was laid on 25 April 1682, and the church was consecrated on 17 September 1692. Inside are twelve oil paintings of the Apostles, painted by Angelo Paglia in 1714. Another place to visit is the Chiesa di S. Antonio, which was built by the Mainetti family in 1683. The building history of the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista spans from the laying of its foundation stone in 1682 to the Apostle paintings created in 1714.

The Madonna del buon viaggio stands along the ancient Pedemontana road between Franciacorta and Brescia. The capitals of its portico are decorated with simple volutes and coats of arms. Those interested in culture will encounter, in Castegnato's local history, the foundation stone of the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista and the Conservatorio delle „Citelle“, established in 1699.

Festivals between History and Regional Flavour

The Palio delle Antiche Contrade has taken place every September since 1974 as a historical re-enactment featuring games, parades and traditional events. The two events differ in format: the Palio is a historical re-enactment, while Franciacorta in Bianco is a national cheese exhibition. In autumn, Franciacorta in Bianco is a national cheese exhibition with guided tastings and themed workshops. Anyone wishing to experience the Palio should plan their stay in September; the cheese exhibition, on the other hand, takes place in autumn.

For practical travel planning, Castegnato is served by ARRIVA bus routes LS025 Brescia–Paratico, LS026/b Brescia–Palazzolo/Chiari and LS027 Brescia–Clusane. The town is also served by Trenord's Brescia–Iseo–Edolo regional railway line. The railway connection can be reached on foot from the town centre in just a few minutes.
