Campodarsego combines the landscape of the Graticolato Romano with ancient routes, churches, museums and paths along the Tergola River. The ancient Via Aurelia runs through the centre of Campodarsego and is now called Strada del Santo.

Roman Planning and Historic Routes

Campodarsego was part of the Roman centuriation of Padova Cis Musonem, known as the Graticolato Romano. This name refers to the Roman system of land surveying and routes, which remains recognisable across the landscape. Another historical reference is the Via Aurelia, which runs through the centre of Campodarsego and is now called Strada del Santo.

The Last Path of St. Anthony also passes through the centre of Campodarsego. The route is around 25 kilometres long and connects Camposampiero with Padova. In addition, the Pista ciclabile Via Antoniana leads from the centre of Campodarsego to Via Pontarola.

Exploring the Tergola

Tergolandia provides a distinctive connection with the landscape. This natural area lies on the banks of the Tergola River in the hamlet of Bronzola and follows the cycle and footpath along the river of the same name. The Percorso Tergola includes sections from San Giorgio delle Pertiche to Bronzola, from Bronzola to S. Andrea, and from S. Andrea to Reschigliano.

The landscape also includes Parco del Santo. It is visible from the Strada regionale del Santo and accessible via Via Strasburgo.

Churches, Museums and Distinctive Architectural Features

The history of the Chiesetta di S. Maria di Panigale dates back to at least 1297: that year, it was first mentioned as a rectory in the Vatican Tithe records. Its walls are made of Roman bricks up to a height of 2.60 metres. Several brick friezes are arranged in a herringbone pattern, giving the building a precise architectural detail.

The Museo degli Alpini is located in Bosco del Vescovo in a former school renovated by the Alpini association S. Andrea di Campodarsego. The Museo Beato Longhin is located in the baptistery of the parish church of Fiumicello and in an adjoining room. Its collection includes photographs, manuscripts, a religious habit, a pair of glasses and religious objects.

Other sacred buildings complete this picture. The central building of Villa Mattiazzo Gelmi Bano features a classical three-storey stately layout with a large central hall and two side wings. The main altar of the Chiesa parrocchiale dei SS. Pietro e Paolo features an antique tabernacle from the 17th century. The Chiesa parrocchiale di S. Nicola a Fiumicello has five altars, including one from the Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari church in Venice.

In Reschigliano, the new Chiesa parrocchiale di S. Daniele was inaugurated and solemnly blessed on 29 June 1976. The left aisle contains a recently restored 18th-century painting. It depicts S. Daniele and other saints and comes from the former parish church.
