San Pietro di Feletto combines sacred history, visual art, regional cheese culture and surroundings with mountains and islands.

Historical traces on Colle Capriolo

Colle Capriolo is home to the remains of the former Camaldolese hermitage of San Benedetto. The hermitage was established in the second half of the 17th century. In Rua di Feletto, the former Camaldolese hermitage is also home to the Galleria dell’Eremo. It is an exhibition hall where major art exhibitions take place. The Galleria dell’Eremo is located in Rua di Feletto; its exhibition hall hosts major art exhibitions.

The Pieve di San Pietro: Architectural history

The Pieve di San Pietro Apostolo dates back to the Lombard period and was most likely built on the foundations of an earlier Roman temple. It stands on a hill with sweeping views and has a large portico, which was probably added to the building in the 13th century. The Pieve di San Pietro di Feletto also includes a chapel with a fresco cycle from the second half of the 15th century. Like this chapel, the large portico is also part of the Pieve.

Frescoes and the Cristo della Domenica

The paintings in the chapel depict episodes from the life of Saint Sebastian. This collection of sacred art is complemented by the Cristo della Domenica, regarded as a rare late-medieval depiction from popular religious culture. In the image, agricultural and craft tools wound Christ. The Pieve and its chapel thus bring together architectural history, a fresco cycle and the Cristo della Domenica within a sacred context.
