Discover Roncadelle: History, Wine and Rural Italy
The first surviving document to explicitly mention Roncadelle dates from 1193. After the destruction of the Pieve di Stabiuzzo by the Piave, Roncadelle’s religious life became centred around the church of Santa Fosca.
Santa Fosca and Its Works of Art
The chancel painting in the church of Santa Fosca depicts the Madonna with Saints Fosca and Maurizio and was created by G. Donati in 1925. The stained-glass windows depicting the Risen Christ, the Evangelists and the patron saints were created in 1947 by the Rivetta company from Vicenza. The motifs range from the Madonna to the Risen Christ and the Evangelists, as well as the patron saints. The years 1925 and 1947 represent the two different periods in which they were created.
Wine-Making Tradition in Roncadelle di Ormelle
Wine is another facet of the area. Marchetto Matteo is a family-run winery in Roncadelle di Ormelle whose roots go back to 1860. Among other wines, it produces the indigenous varieties Raboso and Verduzzo. If you would like to include regional products and the history of agricultural businesses in your trip, a cellar tour is one possible option: it can be arranged with Marchetto Matteo by telephone or through a contact request.

Rural Character and Tourist Routes
The Fornace da calce Bortòt lime kiln is situated in a typical rural landscape with farmland and specialised vineyards. At the same time, it is connected to the existing tourist routes Strada dei vini del Piave and Ippovia. The inauguration of the second section of the cycle route from Roncadelle was also announced for 15 December 2025. This section was intended to run from the Casa di Riposo to the municipal boundary of Ponte di Piave. For a day focused on cycling, the announced section should therefore be distinguished from the existing routes Strada dei vini del Piave and Ippovia. When choosing your hotel, you can therefore weigh up whether the culture of Santa Fosca, Marchetto Matteo’s connection with wine or excursions in the surrounding area is most important to you.
