The book “Cagnano di Pojana Maggiore” records stories from the Second World War told by local residents. At the same time, its origins point to a special form of local documentation: pupils from the third, fourth and fifth grades of the “Giovanni Spello” primary school in Cagnano wrote the book during the 1974/75 school year. For you, this connection provides access to Cagnano not solely through buildings or events, but through stories passed on within the local community.

The Viale di Cagnano also shapes the appearance of the district. As the district’s main road, it connects various parts of the district with one another. It is frequently used for social and cultural events. The street is therefore part of both practical orientation on site and the places where community activities take place.

On foot through the surroundings

For an exploration beyond the built-up areas, the “Pink Loop of Cagnano” circular trail offers a concrete option. The trail is approximately 9 km long and leads through the rural surroundings between Cagnano and Pojana Maggiore. It begins in the area of Cagnano’s sports facilities. About 80% of the circular trail runs along ordinary roads open to traffic. If you are planning a hike, you should take this trail characteristic into account in your personal assessment: the circular trail is not made up exclusively of remote paths.

Sports and events

The sports facilities of the municipality of Pojana Maggiore include a municipal sports hall in Cagnano di Pojana Maggiore. Its use can be requested by submitting an application for permission to use it. For groups or travellers with a specific sporting purpose, this municipal facility is therefore a separate aspect of local planning, without implying a general possibility of use without an application.

A clearly defined example in terms of time was the Cagnano Summer Festival. It took place from 28 June to 1 July 2024 with live music. During this festival period, a covered food stall was open every evening from 7 p.m. This was not a permanent offering.

The “torre Eiffel veneta”

An unusual local feature is the “torre Eiffel veneta”. It was made in 1999 on the occasion of the Midest metalworking trade fair using laser cutting. The “torre Eiffel veneta” received recognition from the Paris trade fair, recognition from the Foreign Trade Office and an award from the municipality of Pojana Maggiore. In the wider area around Cagnano, there is also a miniature Eiffel Tower in the car park of the private company Laserjet. Both references make metalworking and the distinctive tower shape an independent sightseeing focus, without presupposing anything about access to the private car park.
