Between the Brenta River and the mountains

Campolongo sul Brenta lies on the right bank of the Brenta River at the southern end of the Valsugana. The mountain area reaches an altitude of 1,200 m; there, nature and educational trails cross centuries-old forests. The mountain area also includes traditional mountain huts used for livestock grazing.

Hiking, cycling and water activities

The section of the Alta Via del Tabacco from Valstagna to Campolongo is 9 km long, has an elevation gain of 700 m and takes around 3 hours. The Alta Via del Tabacco is also known as the “Museo Diffuso Alta Via del Tabacco” and connects higher-altitude settlements and tobacco terraces. It can be divided into three sections, each of which can be made into a circular route by descending into the valley and returning to the starting point along the Brenta River.

The TRODOI TRAILS 14 route from Campolongo to Campese uses a combined cycle and footpath along the Brenta for the return journey to the starting point. A 21 km-long, largely flat cycle route passes through Campolongo and connects several towns in the Brenta Valley. The different route profiles help you organize excursions according to your preferred type of terrain.

The Antonia Dal Sasso nature trail features old tobacco terraces, small valleys, springs, meadows and a remarkable abundance of flowers. The nature trail is intended for school classes and interested groups who wish to learn about natural phenomena and the traditional human use of the Valbrenta. From the piazza in Campolongo, a path also leads uphill to the clearly visible Cappella degli Alpini.

A rafting trip on the Brenta River covers approximately 10 km from the San Gaetano district to Campolongo sul Brenta.

Churches, terraces and local history

The Church of Beata Vergine del Carmelo in Campolongo sul Brenta was built between the late 18th and early 19th centuries, has a neoclassical design and features two symmetrically arranged Romanesque bell towers. Typical cultivation terraces are still visible in the districts of Vialetti, Orlandi, Zannini and Contarini. The church in Campolongo is the newest of the seven chapels built in the area of the Campese monastery.

The Church of Madonna del Carmine in Campolongo sul Brenta was begun in 1793 in the neoclassical style, based on designs by the Bassano-born architect Antonio Gaidon. It features an altarpiece of the Assumption of Mary by Giambattista Canale, as well as a ceiling fresco. Other features include wooden sculptures, including a statue of Madonna del Carmine and a crucifix, along with an original two-part baptismal font made of Asiago stone with a decorated pyramidal cover.

Masses will be held at the Church of Madonna del Carmine on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., and on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The Festa in Brenta in Campolongo was announced as a program of events held over two weekends, featuring folkloric, sporting and liturgical events.
