Hiking Trails with Historical Connections

The Strada delle 52 Gallerie runs between Bocchetta Campiglia and the Porte del Pasubio and can be explored on foot in summer. Those planning this route can use Bocchetta Campiglia and the Porte del Pasubio as fixed points along the way when organizing their day. The seasonal context is just as important to the preparations as determining the starting point and destination area.

The Strada degli Eroi includes an approximately 2-kilometer section between the Galleria d’Havet and Rifugio Achille Papa at the Porte del Pasubio in the municipality of Valli del Pasubio. The Porte del Pasubio therefore serve as a fixed reference point for both trails, while the approximate length of the Strada degli Eroi can be factored separately into planning this section.

Waterfall and Alpine Nature

The Cascata di Brazzavalle is located in the village of Balasso. The mountain waterfall is fed by the Le Fratte stream and surrounded by green forests. Its location, water source and woodland setting frame the waterfall as an independent landscape feature.

Above the approximately 30-meter-high waterfall is the Cubo di Vetro, an overhanging platform offering views of the waterfall and the drop below. The Giardino Alpino covers approximately 10,000 m² and allows visitors to observe typical plants of the Piccole Dolomiti as well as features of the ecosystem as a whole.

Remembrance Culture and Regional Working Life

The Sacello Ossario del Pasubio on Colle Bellavista is a military shrine from the First World War that houses the mortal remains of more than 5,000 soldiers. In addition to the Sacello Ossario, the Museo della Prima Armata presents exhibitions on events, people and equipment from the First World War. At Colle Bellavista, the military shrine and the thematically related exhibitions are therefore located close to one another.

The Museo etnografico displays tools used in historical occupations that have since disappeared, including agriculture, forestry, blacksmithing, carpentry, shoemaking, butchery and cheesemaking. This working life ranges from agriculture and forestry to various crafts and food-related activities.

In Contrada Seghetta, the water of the Leogra is directed through a channel to a water wheel that powers a water-driven saw for processing wood. This example makes it possible to follow the process directly from the stream through the technical equipment to the processing of the wood.

Key Times for Trails and Museums

Il Cubo near Malga Prà in Valli del Pasubio is a 15-minute outing rated EE in difficulty for experienced hikers, with 50 meters of elevation loss. When Il Cubo is considered as a separate trail section, its duration, elevation loss and difficulty level can be taken into account together when planning.
