Badolato Marina: Sandy Coast, Marina and Culture
Badolato Marina developed as a coastal settlement on the Ionian coast. After the devastating earthquake of 1947 and the severe flood of 1951, which caused considerable damage, the Italian state had the first houses built here. Today, the town is above all known for the combination of a sandy coast, open beach areas, green spaces and regional excursion destinations.
Sandy beach, pine grove and practical orientation
The coast of Badolato Marina includes sandy beach sections that are freely accessible, as well as managed areas offering services provided by bathing establishments. The sandy beaches are considered easily accessible. The open sections and bathing establishments represent two different forms of spending time at the seaside. Free parking spaces are available at the beach, including during the summer season. Free parking at the beach is a separate practical planning consideration for arriving by car.
Behind the beach is a large green space with a well-maintained pine grove. There is a picnic area and benches there; the green area also includes a children's playground. The existing benches and picnic area can be incorporated into the day's plans for breaks outdoors.
Private sports facilities near Badolato Marina offer opportunities for beach volleyball. The beach, green space and private sports facilities thus stand alongside one another as different outdoor areas within the townscape.
Marina and cultural highlights
The coastal structure includes the small marina “Le Bocche di Gallipari”, which is located in Badolato Marina. Teatro del Carro provides a cultural highlight and is home to the “MigraMenti” artistic residency. In addition to the beach, the marina adds a maritime connection to the coastal settlement. Teatro del Carro gives the coastal settlement a specific place associated with culture.
