Churches, Palaces and Layers of History
The Chiesa dell’Annunziata houses a painting of the Madonna with the Angel from 1577 by Girolamo Siciliano. The church’s dome, with its Baroque decorations, is considered unique in Cilento. The Convento di Sant’Antonio da Padova was built on the ruins of the Nosocomio di S. Antonio Abate. It was established as a charitable institution; before the institution was set up, people in need gathered there to receive meals.
The Palazzo Ducale also reflects the development of the town: in the second half of the 16th century, the Neapolitan Carafa nobles built it on the foundations of an older manor house. The Collegiata di Santa Maria Maggiore dates back to around the year 1000. It houses the relics of Sant’Elena in a glass urn. Jazz and Religious Festivities
The JazzinLaurino Festival & Workshop has taken place continuously since 2003 and is associated with the first half of August and the village of Laurino. Its programme includes a seminar on creative music with theoretical and practical instruction, as well as a programme of jazz concerts.
The most important festival in honour of Sant’Elena takes place on 22 May. Further celebrations in honour of the saint from Laurino take place on 18 August. These two dates give the town’s religious calendar a clear seasonal character and complement the historic churches and cultural events with a spiritual dimension.

The nearest railway station to Laurino is considered to be the station in Vallo della Lucania. Laurino is connected by bus services from Salerno operated by Autolinee SITA and from Vallo della Lucania operated by Autolinee CSTP.
