Savigno between the Square, Truffles and History

Savigno combines a historic village centre with a strong truffle culture and tangible traces of the region’s past. The main square lies at the heart of the historic centre and serves as a focal point for economic life as well as tourist and leisure activities. Churches and Places of Remembrance

The historical monuments include the chapel dedicated to the Santissimo Crocifisso at the Pieve di San Giorgio di Samoggia in the municipality of Savigno. It was built in 1623. In Merlano, Savigno, there is also the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. Its origins date back to the 14th century; in 1870, it was completely rebuilt. Both buildings refer to different periods and illustrate the history of the village through concrete examples of religious architecture.

Another historical trace is the monument to the Carbonari uprisings of 1843 in Savigno. It was created by Tullio Golfarelli.

In autumn, the prized white truffle shapes the traditional dishes of Savigno’s local cuisine.
