Dolo: Discover nature, routes and culture

Around Dolo, there is a Ramsar wetland, old mule tracks, several peaks and various cultural sites. The Riserva Naturale Pian di Spagna e Lago di Mezzola is a Ramsar wetland in the area around Dolo. This area includes reed beds, mixed deciduous forests and agriculturally used land. One historical detail takes us back to the year 1588: at that time, a resident lived in “Villa de Dolo” who leased an enclosed field with grapevines in Sorico.

The Route Antiche Mulattiere

The Route Antiche Mulattiere follows old mule tracks through the forests of the former Pieve di Sorico. After a forest section, the route reaches Dolo and crosses a stream on an iron-and-wood bridge. Another section leads via Gusbano back to Dolo, to a crossroads at the fountain.

For orientation along the route, the forest section, the stream, the iron-and-wood bridge, Gusbano and the crossroads at the fountain provide specific reference points along its course.

In January 2016, the upgrading and restoration of a path from Sorico to Dolo was also planned.
