Laglio on Lake Como is a place where trails, landscape and culture can be combined in different daily itineraries. From Laglio, numerous trails lead to Monte Colmegnone. Trails from Laglio uphill and beyond

The Via Verde walking trail begins at the harbor of Laglio and leads uphill via a staircase path into the historic center. The starting point at the harbor, the staircase path and the historic center form a sequence leading from the lake up into the settlement. From Laglio in the direction of Moltrasio, it is approximately 4.5 km long and takes around 1.5 hours. On the Via Regina, a connecting section continues to the Germanello district of Laglio. This trail is narrow, steep and demanding. The trail leading from Laglio to Moltrasio is marked as part of the “Cammini della Regina”. For planning purposes, you can distinguish a walking trail taking around 1.5 hours from a narrow, steep and demanding section.

Landscape, mountain trails and birdwatching

On the mountain slopes, there are trails that lead uphill and offer panoramic views. Monte di Torriggia is suitable for observing falcons, kites and buzzards, as well as bird migration towards Switzerland and Northern Europe. At the northern edge of the municipality of Laglio, in the Torriggia district, Buco dell’Orso lies approximately 400 m above Lake Como. The path to the cave leads from Torriggia along a relatively steep mountain trail; the cave has not been open to visitors for several years. For this location, therefore, the mountain trail is part of the possible experience, not a visit inside the cave.

San Giorgio and notable buildings

The parish church of San Giorgio stands in the center of Laglio, a few steps from the shore of Lake Como. The church has a single-nave layout and five side chapels. The single-nave layout refers to the central church space; the five side chapels complement this basic form. The Chiesa San Giorgio contains a painting by Innocenzo Carloni depicting the Madonna with the Christ Child. An altar attributed to Stefano Salterio is also located there. At the same point, the lakeside location and the architectural features come together.

La Tomba Pini is a cemetery project from 1945 by the architect Franco Albini. Joseph Frank was buried in the pyramid in 1852. The monument is 20 m high and 13 m wide.
