Forcola lies in a landscape with a distinctly Alpine character. Dense chestnut groves surround the village. Architecture and historical traces

The mountain hamlets of Forcola preserve evidence of historic architecture and settlement planning. The parish church of San Giuseppe was completed at the end of the 19th century, replacing a church dating from the 15th century. Its dome is 38 metres high. Sostila is a particularly well-preserved example of medieval rural architecture. In the Middle Ages, before the Adda was regulated, San Gregorio was an obligatory transit point and enabled the connection between Ardenno and Talamona. Until the beginning of the 1960s, the ancient mule track through Val Fabiòlo was the shortest route into Val Tartano. Today’s hiking trail to Sostila also leads through Val Fabiòlo, as did the ancient mule track towards Val Tartano.
