Grottaccia combines religious sites, sports and festivals with various opportunities to discover Cingoli and its regional culture. The Beata Vergine di Lourdes parish is located in Grottaccia and represents a clear cultural point of reference. When choosing your hotel or accommodation, this thematic range can help you determine the focus you want for your trip.

Churches and Art in Grottaccia and Cingoli

The Church of San Sergio in the village of Grottaccia was remodelled in the Gothic period, following the example of Sant’Esuperanzio, built between 1278 and 1295. This makes it possible to see in a specific building how older religious models influenced local design.

In Cingoli, the history of art adds to this impression. The modern section of the “D. Stefanucci” Municipal Art Gallery contains 31 paintings by Donatello Stefanucci. Cingoli’s Palazzo Comunale is also home to Lorenzo Lotto’s “Madonna del rosario e Santi”, signed and dated 1539. Those wishing to combine art and sacred architecture will therefore find two clearly distinct points of interest.

Cycling Tour and Sports Facilities

For active days, the “Cingoli e il Monte Circe” cycling tour offers a clearly described route: it is 20.2 kilometres long, of medium difficulty, and leads from Cingoli along the hillsides to Grottaccia. The tour then returns to the starting point. Returning to the start makes the route easy to understand as a self-contained circular tour, without requiring any additional route details.

The municipal sports facility in the Grottaccia district includes an artificial-turf football pitch and a padel court. GROTTACCIA PADEL CLUB operates its facility at Via San Sergio, snc, in Cingoli (MC), 62011. The Grottaccia sports facility is operated as a public service for the general public and for amateur sports clubs that expressly request its use. The roof over the padel court in Grottaccia is intended to make it possible to play padel in winter as well.

Festivals with a Local Character

The events calendar includes the Festa Madonna di Lourdes. It takes place annually on the second Sunday in September from 07:00 to 19:00 and features 60 stalls from various sectors. In addition, the Festa Parrocchiale Din Don Dan 2026 will take place in Grottaccia di Cingoli. These two dates have different focuses: the September event is associated with a set daily schedule and numerous stalls, while the year 2026 identifies another specific occasion.

Cuisine and Practical Information

The traditional cuisine of Cingoli includes Mignola olive oil, Calcioni, Pizza di formaggio, Ciambelle, Cavallucci and the well-known dessert Serpe. These names represent a culinary aspect of the region that you can consider as a separate focus when planning your trip.

For a hike to the Caverna delle Cornacchie, the start of the trail is not signposted. The ascent leads over wooden steps; in some places, ropes make the route easier.
