Chiaserna connects the CAI Trail 254 with churches, ruins and regional cultural destinations. The CAI Trail 254 leads from Chiaserna to the summit of Monte Catria. At the same time, the Church of Sant'Anastasia is located in the centre of the inhabited village. Here, landscape, architectural history, equestrian themes and destinations in the wider surrounding region come together within a closely connected thematic area.

Ascent to Monte Catria

The CAI Trail 254 is the most important concrete connection to hiking in Chiaserna. It runs from the village to the summit of Monte Catria. On the ascent, the trail offers views over the Valle delle Patate.

Sant'Anastasia in the inhabited village centre

The Church of Sant'Anastasia is located in the centre of Chiaserna's inhabited village and is therefore directly connected with the village. Its architectural history dates back to 1838: at that time, it was rebuilt in place of the nearby old Abbey of San Michele. In 1911, a transept and a dome were added. Inside, Sant'Anastasia contains three altarpieces. The church thus combines a central location with several clearly dated stages of architectural development.

Ruins, churches and museums in the surrounding area

The local history also includes the ruins of Sant'Angelo Abbey, which are located in Chiaserna. The Abbazia di Santa Maria di Sitria, a church, is located in the surrounding area. For broader cultural orientation, the view extends to the wider regional surroundings: there you will find the Palazzo dei Consoli as a museum, the Teatro Romano Gubbio as an ancient site and the Civic Picture Gallery as a museum. This allows you to explore the natural surroundings through different mountain designations and the specific view of the Valle delle Patate.

In Chiaserna, several incidents involving wolves were recorded during the winter in recent years. The timing explicitly refers to past years and the winter season. The regional wildlife is therefore also one of the topics that may play a role when exploring the area.

Another local highlight is equestrian sport. The Centro Ippico Badia in Chiaserna organises horseback riding excursions. A horse fair also takes place in Chiaserna in May and October.
