The Castello di Borgo Adorno is a castle and fortification. It can be reached via a municipal road. Aristocratic Palace and a Long Local History

The building's present appearance is directly connected with its eventful history. Marquis Luigi Botta Adorno had the old castle partially demolished and built the present aristocratic palace. Towards the end of the 17th century, the Castello di Borgo Adorno was damaged by a landslide.

Borgo Adorno can be traced back to the year 1176. The Castello di Borgo Adorno came into the possession of the Adorno family in 1518. This historical focus is complemented by a chapel in Borgo Adorno dedicated to Santa Caterina Fieschi Adorno. At the same location, you can therefore encounter medieval tradition, aristocratic architectural history and religious heritage.

Hiking between the Valley and the High Trail

A hiking trail follows an unpaved road along Costa Breghi and Costa delle Vaie to Borgo Adorno. During this hike, the courtyard of the Castello di Borgo Adorno can be used as a resting place.

The Sentiero 200 runs from Forcella Sud Barillaro to Monte Giarolo. Together with the route via Costa Breghi and Costa delle Vaie, it shows that Borgo Adorno is connected both by a local access route through the valley and by a broader hiking trail. Which route is right for you depends on your preferred starting and destination points.

Visits by Reservation

Visits are possible from May to September on the second and fourth Saturday of each month, from 10:00 to 18:00, by prior binding reservation. If you plan to include the Castello specifically in your stay, this schedule is therefore an essential part of your preparations. The historic complex, the aristocratic palace, the chapel and the hiking trails offer various points of interest for a stay focused on culture and landscape.
