Natural Areas Between Water and Forest

At Lago di Beinette, the town’s distinctive natural character becomes tangible. The lake is the largest risorgiva in Piedmont and, in terms of water flow, the second-largest in Italy. At the same time, Lago di Beinette is equipped for nature observation and surrounded by old semiplanizial forest stands. These forests preserve endangered tree species such as the black alder. In this way, the exceptional status of the body of water combines with a landscape in which water, forest and observation are closely connected.

The natural area also includes the Il Fosso wetland. It lies in a completely unspoiled landscape and has distinctive ecological and scenic features connected with water. Il Fosso can be reached on foot or by bicycle. If you would like to include walks or bike rides in your plans, this natural area provides a clear, water-oriented point of reference.

Lago di Beinette is also considered a destination for freshwater diving. The range of nature-related experiences associated with the area therefore extends from observing the landscape to a special form of water sports.

Churches, Chapels and Living Traditions

The Santuario della Madonna della Pieve was first mentioned in 1041. Its interiors are completely decorated with frescoes. Celebrations during the Marian month and on Ascension Day are associated with the sanctuary. Its historical age, artistic decoration and religious tradition come together here in a shared history of the place.

The Cappella dell’Annunziata dates from the early years of the 17th century. The frescoes dedicated to the Virgin are dated 1611. The fresco cycle was restored in 2007 and attributed to Antonio Bodrito. Its construction period, subject matter, restoration and artistic attribution thus represent several clearly identifiable facets of local cultural history.

The Confraternita di Santa Croce, also known in Beinette as Crusà, likewise dates back a long way: it originated in the second half of the 15th century, while the present building dates from the early 17th century. The Confraternita hosts a now-traditional nativity exhibition in December. Beyond the individual buildings, the hamlets around Beinette’s local chapels preserve liturgical traditions associated with commemorative celebrations.

Green Spaces for Exercise and Relaxation

Parco di Rifreddo features a large picnic area with barbecue facilities, tables, benches, partially covered seating and toilets. There is also a multi-level fitness trail with tested exercise equipment. The park therefore combines an equipped place to take a break with a specific opportunity for outdoor exercise.

At Castello di Rudinì, access conditions are clear: the castle is enclosed and entry is not permitted.
