Discover Ricca: Cherasca, culture and local festivals
Ricca lies at the foot of a hill on the banks of the Cherasca stream. This combination of a hillside location and watercourse gives the area a distinct landscape character. For travel planning, Ricca can be explored through its landscape, culture, festivals and sports. Those choosing a hotel in Ricca can take these different aspects into account when deciding where to stay.
Landscape and wine production in the municipality
Ricca and Valle Talloria are part of the municipality of Diano d’Alba. There, the slopes and soils provide suitable conditions for producing high-quality wines. Together with the Cherasca stream and the hilly setting, this creates an image of the travel area that combines natural surroundings and an agricultural character without reducing Ricca to just one aspect.
Church, museum and local heritage
The Church of San Rocco Cherasca became the new parish church of San Rocco Cherasca in 1931. The Ricca or San Rocco Cherasca Museum documents the history, work and lives of the ordinary people of the Langhe. Another cultural venue is the “Conservare il Passato” Exhibition-Museum. It is located at Piazza della Chiesa 1 in San Rocco Cherasca, in the Don Mario Destefanis Recreational Cultural Centre.
In 2025, the Don Mario Destefanis Cultural Centre once again hosted the 13th exhibition of students’ drawings on the theme of travel. Until 2019, this exhibition was held during the Christmas season in conjunction with a nativity scene exhibition. Content of this kind makes local culture accessible not only through buildings, but also through memories, everyday life and community activities.
Patron saint festivities with flavour and movement
Ricca’s traditional patron saint festivities took place from 28 August to 1 September 2025 and offered residents and visitors opportunities to participate. They included a 6 km non-competitive run through the hamlet’s hills and paths. On all days of the event, craft beer from De Lab Fermentazioni was available. This young company from the hamlet used raw materials from the region. The gastronomic event “Serata a tutta Paella” complemented the festivities with an all-you-can-eat offer.
Sferisterio and Italian ball games
As part of Ricca’s 2025 patron saint festivities, a Pantalera tournament was opened at the municipal sferisterio, with four teams taking part. A match of the Italian Supercoppa in Pallapugno between Albese and Cortemilia was also scheduled for 2025 at the sferisterio in Ricca di Diano d’Alba. During the summer, lessons took place at the sferisterio in Diano d’Alba.
A walking route through Ricca
A walking route leads from Ricca’s main square to the municipal sferisterio and then across the Cherasca stream towards Diano d’Alba. For visitors who want to get to know a place through its paths, watercourse and sports facilities, this route describes a clear sequence of stops within the local area.
