Flumini: Beach, River Landscape and Sardinian Culture

Flumini is located on the southeast coast of Sardinia, at the eastern end of the Gulf of Angels. The town combines a distinct coastal character with a river landscape and several historical and cultural attractions. The Su Pau River runs through Flumini di Quartu. It is approximately 9 kilometres long and originates from streams that rise on the peaks of the Sette-Fratelli Mountains. The excursions pass predominantly sandy beaches, rocks and dense vegetation, appealing to different interests in activity and landscapes.

Excursions to Is Mortorius

The nearby Is Mortorius combines archaeological and maritime aspects. The Nuraghe Diana stands on the hill of Is Mortorius, approximately 150 metres from the sea. The wreck of the Romagna, a cargo ship from the Second World War, also lies offshore. Is Mortorius is therefore a popular destination for diving enthusiasts.

History, Churches and Festivals

The former Carlo Faldi coastal battery was built on the coast of Flumini di Quartu to protect the Gulf of Cagliari from attacks by sea. At the Church of Sant'Andrea in Flumini, the Feast of Sant'Andrea takes place in December, while the Feast of San Giovanni is held on 24 June and on the last Sunday in July.

The Sagra del Maialetto is a Sardinian gastronomic festival in Flumini; its fourth edition will take place on Saturday, 1 August 2026. The Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli contains an original depiction of the Madonna surrounded by angels and golden stars. In the nearby area of Sant'Andrea, the remains of a Roman villa can be reached after a 45- to 60-minute walk along the waterline.
