Sedini Among Rocks, Churches and Landscapes

Churches and Archaeological Traces
The Chiesa di San Pancrazio di Nursi stands in an isolated position on a hill in the Sedini countryside. It occupies the only surviving room of a 12th-century monastery. Its elevated, secluded location and the preserved monastic room shape the character of this building.
In the valley of the Rio Silanis, the Chiesa di San Nicola di Silanis stands next to the abandoned village of Speluncas. The ruins are known for the precise stoneworking techniques and the distinctive clarity of their Romanesque architectural forms. When visiting, both the material and the architectural forms therefore draw the eye.
Museum and Traces of Deep Time
The Museo Domu De Janas La Rocca features a permanent exhibition of fossils from the Sedini area, including around 200 specimens from the Middle Miocene. A 19th-century farmhouse from Anglona has also been reconstructed across two floors with around 300 artefacts. The museum thus combines geological evidence with the world of rural life.
The Domus de Janas “La Rocca” belongs to the more distant past: it is a necropolis carved into the rock dating from between the 4th and 3rd millennia BC. Its form, worked out of the rock, makes visible how closely the natural environment and early history are connected in Sedini.
Waterfall and Trails Through the Landscape
The Cascata Pilchina di li Caaddaggi lies along the Rio Silani southwest of Sedini and is around 7 metres high. In Sedini, trekking routes run through forests of holm oaks and downy oaks to old mills and abandoned villages. Alongside the historic buildings, this opens up another side of the town: its landscape.
The SP 143 leads to the Chiesa di San Nicola di Silanis, running from Perfugas via Bulzi to Sedini; from there, the route continues along a country road. Due to the condition of the road, access may be difficult for people with reduced mobility. The access path to the Cascata Pilchina di li Caaddaggi begins after about 1.5 kilometres from Sedini along Via San Pancrazio. You should take these different road and path conditions into account when planning your excursions.
Wine and Local Cuisine
“Feste in Cantina” combines tastings of new wines with dishes from Sedini’s local culinary tradition. The event includes visits to sixteen historic cellars in Sedini and is the 12th edition of an oenogastronomic event held in these cellars. If you would like to experience local cuisine in connection with the town, this format brings together wine, dishes and historic cellars under one specific theme.
