Molveno between the Lake, Forest and Dolomites

Molveno combines a large alpine lake with nature experiences, historic trails and access to the Brenta Dolomites. Lake Molveno covers an area of more than 3 km² and is over 120 metres deep at its deepest point. As a natural alpine lake, it formed around 4,000 years ago as a result of a massive landslide. If you want not only to admire the landscape but also to understand how it was formed, this connection is part of the character of the area.

From the Centre to the Pradel Plateau

A panoramic cable car takes you directly from the centre of Molveno to the Pradel Plateau. From there, numerous hikes lead to typical mountain refuges in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites. The Brenta Dolomites also offer a dense network of routes for via ferrata, trekking, climbing, Nordic walking, trail running, mountain biking and paragliding.

The Forest Park is located at the mountain station of the La Panoramica cable car. From Molveno, you can reach it via the Molveno–Pradel section and then along approximately 150 metres of a forest road. The Forest Park is connected to Adamello Brenta Nature Park and offers high-rope courses running among the trees at different heights and levels of difficulty.

Getting Around the Lake

The lakeside circular trail leads to a waterfall near the Ponte Romano, which dates back to the 13th century. The Ponte Romano di Mezzolago is located along today's lakeside path around the lake.

Culture and History in Molveno

The Taialacqua Sawmill is opened and put into operation in summer to explain its history and use. Extensive information panels explain the complex mechanism of its special machine from the 15th or 16th century. In the Church of San Borromeo, you will find a broad, rectangular, single-nave interior with a coffered ceiling; the interior furnishings were created by Carlo Bonacina.

The paths in the surrounding area also tell stories of times gone by. The Strada dei Marocchi is known as an ancient Roman road and was restored in 1265. The Fortini di Napoleone consist of trenches dug in August 1703 during the War of the Spanish Succession against the French. Alongside the lake and mountains, these places add a historical dimension to a trip to Molveno.

Water Experiences at the Beach

At Molveno Beach near the lake, the water park includes a 20 × 15 metre adventure pool, water features, waterfalls, slides and an entertainment service. This allows you to vary your days between the lakeshore, forest walks, mountain trails and cultural and historical sites, without limiting Molveno to just one type of trip.
