Cherz represents a journey where trails, high-altitude landscapes and regional products create different highlights. Those who like to structure their days around activity and scenery will find several thematic options here. The selection ranges from hikes and winter activities to mountain bike tours and insights into local cheese production. This allows you to shape your trip according to your own interests and get to know Cherz at a pace that suits you.

Hiking trails across the Cherz Plateau

The “Path of the Hunter” circular hiking trail is moderately difficult, takes four to five hours and leads through the high-altitude passes of Cherz. The route follows an unpaved road to Cherz, passing the mountain dairy of the same name. It then continues across grazing areas with views of the small hamlets of Cherz and Masarei.

Several circular trails continue from the Cherz Plateau. The meadows invite you to rest at altitude. This creates a balance of walking and mindful breaks in the open landscape when planning your day. Those who enjoy combining different trail routes can consider the plateau a focal point for hikes without committing to a single loop.

Winter trails and the Arabba lift area

The CAI hiking route connects the Cherz Plateau with Arabba. It leads uphill through a forest to the plateau and follows a route from Rifugio Cherz back to Arabba.

In winter, the Cherz Plateau can be reached from Passo di Campolongo with snowshoes or touring skis. In the Arabba lift area, Cherz 1 is a four-seater chairlift.

To Cherz by mountain bike

The Pralongià MTB tour leads uphill from Renaz to the hamlet of Cherz and then continues along a gravel road to Passo Incisa. For cyclists, the route therefore offers a clear progression through an ascent, a hamlet and a mountain pass. On this tour, Cherz is a specific section of a connection that links different types of terrain.

Cheese and regional specialties

A craft dairy is located in the hamlet of Renaz along the Pralongià MTB route. It is suitable for a visit and for tasting its cheeses. This allows a culinary highlight to be combined directly with an outdoor activity.

In addition to the Renaz, Fodom and Contrin cheeses, Latteria di Livinallongo also produces Cherz cheese as well as fresh and aged ricotta. The different names give a trip to Cherz a regional flavor and make cheese production an independent focus of interest.

A small cultural highlight

The small church in Cherz is dedicated to the Holy Cross, Santa Croce in Italian.

Choose accommodation according to your travel plan

Choosing a hotel or other accommodation in Cherz can be guided by your personal travel idea. Those who prioritize trails and landscapes will plan differently from someone who wants to combine a mountain bike tour with a cheese tasting. Winter activities, in turn, form a focus of their own. In this way, the choice of accommodation can become part of a travel plan that brings activity, relaxation and regional products into the desired daily rhythm.
