Discover Pescul: Ski Civetta, mountain trails and Mascorada
Pescul between winter sports and mountain trails
Pescul combines winter sports, scenic trails and regional traditions within a compact area. The lifts in Val Fiorentina start in the Pescul district. Two four-seater chairlifts from Pescul provide access to the Ski Civetta ski area. This makes the village particularly interesting if you want to combine different mountain experiences during your holiday without equating the individual destinations in terms of their content.
Skiing and ski touring in winter
The Ski Civetta ski area includes 80 km of slopes. These include two slopes illuminated for night skiing; there are also slopes for skiers of all ability levels. A ski tour from Pescul to Monte Fertazza begins at the lift station area in Pescul and follows trail no. 569 through the winter forest. Alongside the classic skiing experience, winter tours through the landscape around Pescul are therefore also a central attraction.
For getting around the valley, the Val Fiorentina ski bus connects Pescul, Santa Fosca, Selva di Cadore and Fedare at Passo Giau. This connection is just as much part of the village’s winter setting as the lifts and slopes of Ski Civetta. When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore first decide whether the ski area, a ski tour or the connection between several villages is most important for your trip.
Trails with views of the mountains
The route from Pescul to Cima Fertazza leads across pastures and panoramic sections. Along the way, views open up over Val Fiorentina, Monte Civetta and Pelmo. Another route into the mountain landscape is the trail from Pescul to Rifugio Aquileia. It crosses mountain streams and pastures with free-grazing animals and passes through a picnic area before opening up views of Monte Pelmo.
For a shorter hike, the trail to Rifugio Aquileia is a good option: the easy hike from Pescul takes about an hour. Two chairlifts departing from Pescul are equipped to transport bicycles and can reduce the elevation gain on the ascent to Cima Fertazza. The trails around Pescul therefore appeal not only to hikers but also to cyclists who want to combine their tours with an ascent into the mountains.
Ristoro Belvedere and regional culture
Ristoro Belvedere on Cima Fertazza can be reached from Pescul by chairlift or on foot via various trails. Michela and her family have welcomed hikers, skiers, snowshoers and e-bike riders there for more than forty years, in both summer and winter. The place thus combines different forms of mountain recreation, without this implying a single uniform use.
The traditional Mascorada is also part of Pescul’s distinctive cultural character. During this Mascorada, Matazìgn and Re del Bosc, who according to tradition come from Forcella Forada, arrive in Pescul by horse-drawn sleigh before the Mascorada begins. The Museo Vittorino Cazzetta in Selva di Cadore displays the finds discovered at Mondeval. This allows you to consider winter activities, trails through the landscape and cultural impressions as different focuses when planning your trip.
