Nevegal between high plateau, karst and mountain trails

The Alpe del Nevegal is a high plateau on the northern slope of the Col Visentin group. The ridge separates the Po-Venetian Plain from the Val Belluna. Nevegal thus presents itself as a mountain destination with clear focuses on landscape, outdoor activities and winter experiences. Karst landscape and alpine wildlife

The Monte Faverghera nature reserve features characteristic karst formations. These include sinkholes, caves, shafts and karren fields. The various formations give the area a distinctive geological character and make it particularly interesting if you want to observe the landscape not only from a distance but also understand its forms while exploring it.

Alpine animal species can be found in the nature reserve, including capercaillie, hazel grouse, rock partridge and black woodpecker. Monte Faverghera can be reached on foot via trails from Piazzale del Nevegal. This access route combines nature exploration with clear orientation on site, without requiring a specific circular route for the visit.

Botanical trail in the Giardino Botanico

The Giardino Botanico delle Alpi Orientali is a state nature reserve and is managed by the Reparto Carabinieri Biodiversità di Belluno. The botanical trail there is easy, approximately 2,000 metres long and takes around two hours. This manageable scale may be particularly appealing if you want to combine a peaceful nature experience with sufficient time for plants and the landscape.

Guided tours of the Giardino Botanico delle Alpi Orientali are available by prior reservation. In addition to exploring independently, the garden therefore also offers a guided form of visit. Which option is more suitable depends on your preferred travel pace and the importance you place on expert guidance during your stay.

Cycling and winter sports

There are also cycling routes of varying lengths. The Belluno–Nevegal cycling route covers 12.7 kilometres from Piazza dei Martiri in Belluno to Nevegal. The Monte Faverghera–Col Visentin mountain bike route starts at Piazzale del Nevegal and leads for 14 kilometres to Col Visentin. The fixed starting and ending points help you tailor your personal planning to your preferred route.

The Alpe del Nevegal has almost 100 kilometres of trails for trekking and mountain biking, leading up to the surrounding peaks. The Coca Bassa slope in the Nevegal ski area offers night skiing. The Nevegal information point provides maps for trekking and cycling routes and sells winter ski passes.

Pilgrimage sanctuary on Nevegàl

The Santuario Maria Immacolata “Nostra Signora di Lourdes” is part of the area’s cultural character. The pilgrimage sanctuary is located on Nevegàl Hill at an altitude of 1,000 metres. In this way, a religious site complements the nature and activity themes that shape Nevegal as a destination.
