Boara Pisani on the Adige

Boara Pisani combines the Adige, historic architecture and level paths to create a destination with many different facets. At its centre is the Barchessona on the embankment of the Adige. The town offers points of interest both for culture enthusiasts and for travellers who want to explore a landscape by bicycle or on excursions.

Cultural heritage between the embankment and the palazzo

The Barchessona stands at the centre of Boara Pisani on the embankment of the Adige and is adorned with fourteen monumental Doric columns. The Barchessa Pisani is protected under Italian heritage legislation as a cultural asset of particular cultural interest. Palazzo Rosso is located in Ca' Bianca. It already existed in the 18th century, was probably rebuilt in 1864 and belonged to the Santo Stefano branch of the Pisani family. The Tenuta di Sant'Antonio also has a name with a local connection: its name derives from an old wayside shrine with a statue of a saint.

Museums, palaces and parks in the surrounding area

The Galleria Il Melone Arte Contemporanea, a museum, is located in the surrounding area of Boara Pisani. Palazzo Roncale, a palace, is also nearby. The Civic Museum Civiltà in Polesine is another museum in the surrounding area. The Due Torri di Rovigo can be classified there as a fortification. For a more tranquil appreciation of the area, the Parco Alexander Langer, Parco Lisieux and Parco Rosetta Pampanini are also located near Boara Pisani. The range of destinations thus extends from visiting an exhibition to spending time in a park.

Flat routes for trip planning

The D3 “Adige–Po via Rovigo” cycling route runs from Boara Pisani to Guarda Veneta. The Via dell’Adige offers a separate perspective: it begins in Boara Pisani in the Province of Padua, is approximately 55 km long in total and runs entirely on flat terrain without any particular difficulties. The two details therefore clearly differ in terms of route and character. A water-law concession and a permit were granted for the construction of a cycle and pedestrian path known as the “Pista ciclabile dell'Adige”, with a rest area on the left bank of the Adige in the municipality of Boara Pisani. This concerns an approved project; it does not indicate that the route is currently usable.

Historical orientation on the Adige

The Adige also shaped Boara Pisani in its historical role. The town served as a ferry crossing on the Adige and as a post station where horses used for towing barges were changed. The Barchessona is located at Via XI Novembre 3. Private buildings can only be viewed from the outside there. This information is important for planning an actual visit, because the historic architecture here is mainly experienced through the public streetscape and the exterior view.
