Codevigo combines Valle Millecampi with Venetian cultural heritage, the parish church of S. Zaccaria Profeta, the reconstructed Casoni della Fogolana and Asparago di Conche. The wider regional area also includes museums, a castle and several islands.
Valle Millecampi and Venetian cultural heritage
Valle Millecampi is a 1,608-hectare wetland with a lagoon landscape. At the same time, it forms part of the serial UNESCO cultural site “Venezia e la sua Laguna”. Anyone wishing to experience lagoon landscapes and Venetian cultural heritage together can treat Valle Millecampi as a separate thematic starting point for planning their trip. When planning a trip around Codevigo, this landscape area should therefore be considered alongside the individual buildings.
Church and Casoni della Fogolana
One historical trace in Codevigo is the parish church of S. Zaccaria Profeta. It is already mentioned in a deed of donation dated 13 July 1173. What has survived is a 16th-century building by Lorenzo da Bologna with a façade by Falconetto. The surviving building therefore belongs to a later construction phase than the church’s first documented mention in Codevigo.
In the Fogolana area of the municipality of Codevigo, the Casoni della Fogolana comprise four Casoni that replicate the valley’s typical dwellings, as well as an adjacent green area. Unlike the parish church, the Casoni are reconstructed valley dwellings rather than a single religious building.
A fixed date for Asparago di Conche
The Marcia dell'Asparago takes place every year on 25 April in Valle Millecampi. The event promotes Asparago di Conche as a local speciality. The fixed date provides a clear calendar entry for the annual event and reinforces its connection with the local speciality.
Museums and castle in the wider regional area
The wider regional area around Codevigo is also home to several cultural sites. Villa Foscarini Rossi is a museum. The Ecomuseo le Terre del Brenta is also a museum. Castello di San Pelagio is a castle. Museo dell'Aria is another museum. Anyone wishing to explore cultural history beyond Codevigo can include these four sites in their own plans as regional additions.
Islands between the surrounding area and the wider region
Cason Torson is an island in the vicinity of Codevigo. Fisolo is an island in the wider regional area around Codevigo. The islands of Ottagono degli Alberoni and Ex Poveglia are also located in the wider regional area around Codevigo. Cason Torson is geographically closer to Codevigo than Fisolo, Ottagono degli Alberoni and Ex Poveglia. For individual planning, it makes sense to consider the four islands separately according to their different geographical relationships.
